The Boya BY-WM3T2-D2 is a wireless microphone for the iPhone and it's made for interviews and vlogging.

Bottom line: It works well in outdoor environment with clear-enough voice recording. For some reason, recording indoors in quiet environment will result in low volume so the clips will have to be post-edited to increase gain.

The price is US $70 at the time of this review on Amazon USA. The price can vary quite significantly depending on the seller.

The dual mic transmitters makes this system ideal for outdoor interviews. The transmitter and receiver are lightweight and about as heavy as an AAA battery.

The clip-on transmitter is rather small and can clip onto the shirt without pulling the shirt down. The design is also quite inconspicuous.

The mic is an omnidirection mic that records 360 sound. That means it will not be able to filter out sound from the side like how directional shotgun mics does.

The transmitter has a power button and a blue light indicator to show the recording mode.

This are the shortcuts and features available:

• Power on/off: Hold the button for 2s
• Mute: Press the button once. Blue light will blink fast
• Enable noise cancelling: Press the button twice. Blue light will blink slow

Battery life for the transmitter is advertised for 10 hours. There's no battery life indicator.

The receiver is powered by the iPhone but does not use up much power. The receiver can be used with an iPhone case too.

Since there are two transmitters, you can always use the other as a backup unless you're using both for interviews.

The foam windshield can fall off easily when brushed against the shirt. The foam windshield will cover the blue light indicator.

For long recording sessions, you can charge the iPhone through the USB-C port on the receiver.

Audio quality from outdoor recording is alright. Voice can be hear clearly but there will be background noise since the mic is omnidirectional. The mic does a better job at filtering out background noise compared to the default mic on the iPhone.

When noise cancelling is enabled, background noise is filtered out quite effectively but there will be slight distortion to the voice recording. That audio quality for voice recording is quite similar to how phones filter out background noise.

Audio quality for recording in a quiet environment, e.g. indoors, is good, but the volume recording is so low that I always have to increase the gain by at least 12 db. If you recording multiple clips, you have to adjust the volume for all those clips and this can be tedious.

Volume recorded outdoors is alright. I also have this problem with low volume with the Saramonic Blink 500 I purchased a few years ago.

It is possible to increase the gain in some video or voice recording app but it doesn't make much difference.

I don't review many mics for the iPhone so I can't tell say if there are better ones out there. This Boya mic works fine. For US $70, the pricing is quite reasonable. I just wished volume could be louded when recording in quiet environment.
