Book Review: Tropical Fruit by Desmond Tate

Tropical Fruit by Desmond Tate - 01

This beautiful book on tropical fruits is written by Desmond Tate and features beautiful coloured pencil artworks by various artists.

The fruits featured were selected primarily for their flavour, but also for their idiosyncrasies, historical and medicinal significance. There's information on the origin, distribution, varieties, dimensions, propagation, culinary uses and the season the fruits grow in.

The artworks are detailed and look amazing. There are close ups on the fruit, the flesh and sometimes a cutaway/cross section. This book is well designed and the layout is beautiful.

The book was originally published in 2000 by Editions Didier Millet and reprinted in 2002 and 2014. The subject matter is timeless and I can see this being reprinted again in the future.

This is a good reference book for those who want to learn more about tropical fruits.
