Art from Grant Morrison's 18 Days

Thanks to reader FAUNA for alerting me to this title, Grant Morrison's 18 Days. I found some amazing art from the artist Mukesh Singh who created masterpieces for this book. The book seems to be a wide-format illustrated book, with the story and accompanying art by the side. The art is incredible.

Product description:

From superstar creator Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman, Batman & Robin, The Invisibles), comes 18 Days, the story of three generations of super-warriors, meeting for the final battle of their age. 18 Days is a re-imagining of the great eastern myth, Mahabharata, and follows the course of the climactic war that concludes the age of the gods and begins the age of man. It is the prototype for every war ever fought. The scale is epic, wherein the biggest armies ever conceived face one another across the ultimate battlefield to decide the fate of the future. This hardcover illustrated script book from Dynamite Entertainment and Liquid Comics offers readers a first glimpse into the mythic animated series being developed by Morrison. The book reveals the inner workings of the acclaimed writer's process and features the original animation scripts, story bibles, character descriptions, and commentaries. Grant's groundbreaking story is matched perfectly with original illustrations created by acclaimed artist, Mukesh Singh (Devi, Gamekeeper, Shadow Hunter).

Thanks for the post PARKA!

Thanks for the post PARKA! I've been trying to find info about the release date of the animation / film / videogame for 18 DAYS? Does anyone know? & trust me, this is gonna be crazy epic on a whole new scale, which you'll realize when you start reading the text...

valentino said all what had

valentino said all what had to be said
i believe the artist was pushed to use such obnoxious colors by the direction,
the quality of the lineworks suggests maturity and as said i bet the colors were dictated by market analysts,
reminds me of cheesy planet airbrush art...
shame on marvel/blackhorse!

The colors are oversaturated

The colors are oversaturated only in these online samples. In the printed book they are simply beautiful to behold. Also keep in mind that the art here was prepared as a proposal for an animated series, _not_ for a comic book (as much as I might wish otherwise).

The sad news is that I read somewhere that production for the series was either on-hold or cancelled altogether. It's actually bittersweet news because the actual footage I saw looked atrocious. It wasn't living up to the images in the book at all. I understand that most or all of the shots weren't finalized and were in-progress but if your work footage looks that bad then it shouldn't be shown at all. Looks like a rookie studio to me.

I wish/hope that Grant and Mukesh can some day go back and simply finish the story as a limited series comic but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Such a shame if that's the case. :-(
