Book Review: Los Viajes de Emily Nudd Mitchell

Los Viajes de Emily Nudd Mitchell is the travelogue sketchbook of Emily Nudd Mitchell. She's an illustrator and traveler who lives in France. The book's in Spanish though.

This is a big 200-page hardcover that has her travels recorded in writing and watercolour sketches. Her loose style with handwritten notes gives this sketchbook personality.

She has traveled to several countries in Africa and the Middle East, Senegal, Yemen, Egypt and Turkey. These sketches are a glimpse to the people and way of life, living conditions. Some are more illustrative, while others seem to be drawn from life. Occasionally there are scans of things she picked up, like leaves, feathers, seeds and other objects.

There are notes on every page. If you know Spanish, you'll probably be able to enjoy the book more.

You can check out more of her art on her blog. She keeps three blogs, each in different language:
Calle verde - Emily Nudd Mitchell - Spanish
Rue de la verdure - Emily Nudd Mitchell - French
Green street - Emily Nudd Mitchell - English

Hi Teoh Yi Chie,

Hi Teoh Yi Chie,
Thanks for the review! I wish I had met you in Barcelona where I'm sure you found my book. I'm really happy you like my art, it's all done from life actually in four countries : Yemen, Egypt, Senegal and Istanbul. I hope I travel to Singapour once to meet you, and if you come to France, I hope we get to sketch together. Cheers ! Emily Nudd Mitchell
