Upcoming Artbooks for 1st Quarter 2013

Here are some of the artbooks and film companions that are scheduled for 2013. I've only featured selected ones out of the much longer list I've compiled.

January 2013

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

After much delay, it seems that Dark Horse is finally going to release this book this month. Fingers crossed. Some time ago, I've previewed the Japanese edition of this book.

It's a 280-page hardcover.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

This book is already out in some stores. It should be in stock online real soon.

It collects the concept development art from over two decades featuring work from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo series. It's probably the ultimate fantasy game art book of the year.

376 pages. Hardcover.

Steven Spielberg Film, A: Lincoln: A Cinematic and Historical Companion is available at Amazon (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

The film companion for the Steven Speilberg's Lincoln. It was nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards and twelve Academy Awards.

192 pages. Hardcover.

Genga: Otomo Katsuhiro Original Pictures (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

This book is finally going to be in stock on Amazon USA after being available at other places many months earlier. Check out my review. If you want a Otomo Katsuhiro artbook without spending a bomb on shipping charges from Amazon Japan, you can order it now.

The Art of the Croods (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

I can't wait to see how this Chris Sanders & Kirk Demicco film will turn out.

An Illustrated Journey: Inspiration From the Private Art Journals of Traveling Artists, Illustrators and Designers (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

Another book from Danny Gregory. I really enjoy An Illustrated Life. I expect this book to be as good.

The Art of Dead Space (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

This is going to include at from Dead Space, Dead Space: Extraction, Dead Space: Ignition, and Dead Space 2. Sci-fi and creature art fans watch out!

192 pages. Hardcover.

Frankenweenie: The Visual Companion (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

This book is quite late. Frankenweenie came out in September 2012.

There's also some discrepancy for the page numbers listed. It's either going to be 208 or 256 pages.

March 2013

The Art of Brutal Legend (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

This is interesting. I remember it being cancelled. Now it looks like it's coming back, and Udon is being listed as the publisher. I've not read any information from Udon's blog though.

The Art of Oz The Great and Powerful(US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

Oz The Great and Powerful is directed by Sam Raimi. The release date is 8 March 2013, and the book's release date is 5 March 2013.

256 pages. Paperback.

Fringe: September's Notebook (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

Anyone still following Fringe?

The book's postponed again, this time to 12 March 2013.

The Art of Vampirella: The Warren Years HC (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP | CN | BDUS)

Another Vampirella art book. I featured The Art of Vampirella in 2011. I hope there's not much duplication here. It's the same publisher Dynamite Entertainment.

It's going to collect the covers from Vampirella magazine issue #1 to 112 and the 1972 Annual. Featured artists include Frank Frazetta, Sanjulian, Enrich, Ken Kelly, and more.

200 pages. Hardcover.

That's the 1st quarter

There are too many art books coming up. I'll leave the rest to another post in the future.

The full list is below, in case you can't wait.
