Book Review: Custom Lettering of the 20s and 30s

Custom Lettering of the 20s and 30s - 01

This is the third book in the Custom Lettering series. The first was for the 60s & 70s, second was 40s & 50s.

By comparison with other books, the design in the 20s and 30s are safer and more conservative. Most of the examples features just play with typography using the font as main subjects. In the more recent era, the designs are more playful and involve illustrations and are not afraid to have fun with the font.

All three volumes serve as a good source of reference material when it comes to using typography. For this book, it's a reference to the designs from the past. There are 564 pages in this book, each page filled with several examples. So that's a lot of examples to refer to.
