I tried different inks with a dip-pen, for comic inking, some time ago. One of them was Noodler's Heart of Darkness - their bulletproof ink but darker. To be honest I can't say if it created darker, more solid washes, because when I tested it for linework, it bled. It bled more than any other ink I've seen or tried. It even made heavy bristol paper look like tissue paper.
Perhaps it was the type of ink, or that I was using the wrong instrument. (A dip pen, allowing the ink to flow more) True enough, the lines were somewhat finer with the free Noodler's pen in the box, but still spread a little. The bottle went right back into the box, especially after testing the other inks in the queue, and hasn't been back out 'til now, when I checked the name.
