Book Review: The Art of The Batman

This is a beautiful and detailed artbook that also has more than expected text on the making of The Batman. Actually, I'm very surprised there's no dedicated book on the making of The Batman because in this book you'll see there's a lot more that can be said and shown.

The Art fo The Batman is a 224-page large format hardcover featuring the concept art for the film. The visuals are a mix of film stills, sketches, environment designs and very detailed painted scenes. The artworks look great. Actually, the art can be used to create a graphic novel. The sketches also come with cutaways that explain the working mechanism of the Batman suit, equipment and weapons. There's actual thought that goes behind the design to create something that actually looks and feels practical, usable. It's the design philosophy that makes the characters and environment look and feel grounded and real.

If you're watched the film, you'll know that it's dark, like literally dark, not bright. So this artbook also has lots of dark visuals and thankfully the printing holds up well and you can still see some details in the darker areas.

This is a great book for fans of the film and Batman.
