Chinatown Sketchwalk (Jan 2012)

Chinatown Sketchwalk (14 Jan 2012)

With Chinese New Year just a few days away, people are packing Chinatown in Singapore to do their last minute shopping.

The whole area is bustling with activity. It's just a sea of heads from one street to the other end. The crowd is already quite bad even on non-festive seasons.

At one shop selling roasted pork, there were snaking queues. Those queuing are probably looking at more than an hour's wait. It's crazy.

We drew at less crowded areas. Looking at the sketch now, I realised I've got the street name road and had written it down.

I should have looked at this photo before I wrote the street name.

Arghhhhhhhhhh.

Break at McDonald's. Their McChicken burger is still quite bad.

Here's the video I shot. I was trying out the new Olympus 45mm f/1.4 lens I bought. It's not easy to use because it's more for portraits shooting.

The other sketches drawn at Ann Siang Hill near Chinatown.

I was trying to sketch the barber in a back alley when he told me not to. I think he doesn't have a permit to run the business there. He said I would scare his customers away. That sounds ridiculous so I moved further away from him to sketch.
