Volume 2 continues where the first volume left of - in space.
This volume features the environment art from other planets, one of which I think is the space dog Pochi's home planet. The art now is a mixture of gradients and textured watercolours. You get to see extraterrestrial landscape which is actually not too different from Earth but with space cities in the background.
After that we have another space station which is bursting with colours. The design of this last space station is created totally from imagination. It's like its own biodiversity -- well, it is. Very creative.
And finally, the movie ends back on Earth, at night. The school and landscape is now lit by the moonlight, street lights are on.
The book ends with interviews with character designer and chief animator Ishihama Masashi, assistant art director Yamane Saho and art director Ogura Kazuo.
This book is 192 pages as well.
The Art of Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW is a wonderful two volume set. Highly recommended.
