Book Review: Alice 19th manga, volume 1
Alice 19th is based on the concept of "words as power", whether it's about spells or finding the courage to tell people what's truly on one's mind. Here comes Alice, who is overshadowed by her older sister Mayura. Mayura is much more popular and prettier compared to Alice and Mayura is in a relationship with a guy Alice is secretly in love with. Alice is also bullied at school and outwardly brushes off the teasing because she doesn't want to cause trouble.
Alice struggles with her secret crush and acquires the power of Lotis, which uses certain words to cast spells. She is chosen to find all the Lotis words in order to combat an evil that appears in town and takes over Mayura. The series has a mix of humor and drama and the art style reflects it. Humorous moments have little caricatures and thought bubbles and more serious moments have closeups. Amazon ISBN: 978-1591162155 |
