Book Review Mashinen Krieger Vol. 2
As promised in an earlier post, here is the second and in my opinion the better of the two Volumes of Ma.K. designs from the very talented and groundbreaking designer Kow Yokoyama. This is one of my top 10 favorite books from my entire collection. Raw, greasy, muddy, and mostly military designs populate this book with some wonderfully lit diorama photographs.
Half a dozen pages in the back contain the pen and ink sketches of his designs. Theres another book that reprints most of these sketches along with a whole bunch more that I will post at a later date. Amazing work, and again, probably my favorite designer of all time. Totally awesome.

I must say that I prefer the actual models more than his sketches.

RE: Book Review Mashinen Krieger Vol. 2
I think the sketches are fantastic to see- it shows the original idea and his thinking process to get to the models. Thumb-nailing is the key to coming up with superior design- but Im definitely a huge Kow Yokoyama fan and am willing to glean anything I can from all his work- especially if its on a restaurant napkin, or whatever Smile Funny though, I now notice I didnt post any of his sketches on my peek into his book- an indication that Parka's right, the models and dioramas really are much more stunning than the sketches, and although I love the sketches I prefer to look at the final scenes as well.
