Contest (sort of).

Contest (sort of).
I've been mulling over what to do with some duplicates I've acquired over the years. I don't have many - only six. I've considered putting them on eBay, but with eBay's fees coupled with Paypal's fees, I think I'm done with eBay for awhile.

Anyway, there are some books that have slipped right by me that I'd really like to track down. I've searched on my own, but have come up empty. It could be that these books' entire print runs are now in the hands of collectors unwilling to part with them. If so, I'm SOL. However, I'm not omniscient. I'm sure many of you know of nooks and crannies that I've never heard of before, much less surveyed.

With Parka's permission, here is the contest. If you find a concrete source for a book on my wanted list, you win one of my dupes. If you find two, you win two. And so on. They're all in excellent condition and protected by Brodart dustjacket covers.

IOW, to win, all it takes is some digging on your part. Here are the books I'm offering. The prices are MSRPs:

Art of Denis Sire • 1-932413-65-0 • $29.95 • trade edition • 06/2006
Azpiri Sketchbook, Limited Edition • 1-882931-88-2 • $29.95 • #580 of 1,000 • 08/2002
Elegia, Deluxe Edition • 1-882931-04-1 • $29.95 • #316 of 500 • 10/2002
Elric of Melniboné (First Comics Graphic Novel Number Five) • 0-936211-01-6 • $35.95 • #330 of 2,000 • 1986
Kabuki Volume 5: Metamorphosis • 1-58240-170-5 • $49.95 • "limited" unsigned, un-numbered edition • 10/2000
World of Ginger Fox, The • 0-938965-03-4 • $27.95 • #276 of 1,200 • 1987

As you can see, none of these are particularly Earth-shattering. However, this is your chance to obtain some free books.

Some conditions:
  • The source must be fully accessible. IOW, no exclusive "club" access. I can't see paying a membership fee just to buy some books (unless they're heavily discounted).
  • The source must be legitimate and current. Expired listings don't count.
  • If the source is kosher but I don't buy the book (for whatever reason), you still win.
  • If I pursue the book and the deal goes bad (again, for whatever reason), you still win the book.
Before I post the books for which I'm searching, I'd first like to gauge interest and get Parka's okay for this. Thanks for reading!

RE: Contest (sort of).
The premise of the contest is to ask readers to help locate books you're looking for?

RE: Contest (sort of).
That's correct. I've exhausted all the places for which I know to look.

RE: Contest (sort of).
Well, I don't think parka objects and I've gotten at least one enthusiastic email, so here goes.

First, some ground rules:

o The book must be in fine or near-fine condition.
o I mentioned this earlier, but the seller/source must be genuine, so sites like craigslist don't count.

So, without further ado, the first book for which I've been searching high and low is this:

AS DEAD AS LEAVES: THE ART OF CANIGLIA
Shocklines Press, 2004
unknown ISBN, unknown MSRP
Lettered Edition of (26 or 52) in metal traycase
http://www.caniglia-art.com/artbook.htm

First person to find one gets their pick of the books I listed earlier. Thanks a bunch!

RE: Contest (sort of).
did you try emailing the artist's director for any leads?

the only other thing I can think of is finding some fan sites for the artist or combing used bookstores in large cities.

Haha and what about that?

Yeah, maybe it's a bit expensive. but that wasnt something that could be a problem since you didn't mention that.

RE: Contest (sort of).
Sorry for not responding sooner. I'm in the process of building a new Sandy Bridge system and am cannibalizing a few parts from my old box. As such, my soon-to-be-retired machine is only up during rather brief periods.

cetriya, I tried emailing the artist some years ago, but couldn't obtain any promising leads.

Kobar, I'm not looking for the more plentiful softcover edition, or even the hardcover signed & numbered run, but instead for the EXTREMELY scarce lettered edition.

Here's another one for which I've searched high and low:

RUSH - THE COMPLETE TOURBOOKS 1977 - 2004
(Rush Backstage Club?)
unknown ISBN, $500 MSRP
S/N edition of 500
