Was surprised to see this in stores today so I decided to get a copy. This book is published on 17 Feb 2011 and is slightly thicker than the last MGS4 artbook at 208 pages and in Japanese.
This artbook is mainly divided into 6 chapters.
Namely;
1) Official Art
2) Character
3) Mechanics
4) Background
5) Artist Demo
6) Other Works
as well as "How to draw Shinkawa's art and last but not least the credits.

Official Art consists of mainly marketing art for the game. It also features a 2d concept of MGS vs monster hunter as well as the CG rendered version. There are quite a substantial amount of characters, robots, and unlike the mgs4 book, more production paintings on environment art. You can find concept sketches and thumbnails for the various assets though I would love to see more refined drawings for the various mechas. There are also what seems like sequential art which i believe is from the cut scenes from the game (Sorry if I'm wrong as I've not played the game) I'm glad they included the image boards which I felt was very refreshing.

There is also an interview with the legendary Yoji Shinkawa and documentation of his Live art event and process done at the Konami Hall at the end of the book.

Recommended for MGS/Yoji Shinkawa fans,military/ sci-fi lovers or entertainment designers.
