Book Review: Baghdad Journal; An Artist In Occupied Iraq
*** Please note- I'll be switching from a weekly peek at a book and doing more of monthly, just to ease up a bit on Parka's blog, but if interested, I'll still be doing a weekly Peek-a-Book on my twitter if youre inclined to follow me or just check in. My handle on twitter is, @en_b
Thanks! Peek-a-Book Monday again! This week we will take a peek of a real favorite of mine. Steve Mumford's Baghdad Journal; An Artist in Occupied Iraq "I first crossed into Iraq from Kuwait on April 15, 2003, with two French reporters, Michele Bole-Richard and Remi Sulmont. Michelle had generously offered me a seat in their rented SUV after I'd been languishing in Kuwait City, wondering how I'd get into Iraq with no contacts, a small budget, and a press pass from artnet.com, an online arts magazine to make drawings of Iraq at war." This book is a collection of his sketches paintings and anecdotes from his experience. Absolutely remarkable. Baghdad Journal; An Artists In Occupied Iraq Steve Mumford 191 pages HC Drawn and Quarterly ISBN 1-896597-90-4 Availability: Amazon (US | CA | UK | FR | DE | JP)
