Book Review: J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Sketchbook
Any admirers of J. Scott Campbell's artwork or just good girl art in general will definitely be interested in his Danger Girl Sketchbook. Published by DC Comics/WildStorm Productions in 2001, the paperback 6.5" x 10" book spans at 64 pages with the last section devoted entirely in full color.
J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Sketchbook gives the readers an inside view on the creative process that went into creating the hit comic book series by presenting a large collection of never-before-published concept drawings and early character designs from his personal stash with a few short notes accompanying the sketch. The mid-section of the book contains mostly of artwork that he has done for Danger Girl merchandising products - toys, video game, PVC set and statues. The last few chapters includes bonus material, featuring storyboards for the video game, unused character drawings, a gallery of comic book art cover illustration in full-color and a flip-book animation that runs on the corner tabs. I would recommend this book to any aspiring artist that wants to learn how to draw and pick up some tips on drawing sexy girls. The book is out of print so you might have a hard time finding it at your local comic stores but if its available there, the price value is probably 3x the original (or if not more) since its now consider a rare collectors item. Lucky for me, I got it when it was first published for only 12 bucks Canadian which is more than worth it. There is a few sellers on Amazon or you can try ordering it from the official J. Scott Campbell store. http://www.amazon.com/DANGER-GIRL-SKETCHBOOK-Scott-Campbell/dp/B000JTJX0U http://store.jscottcampbellstore.com/dan...hbook.html ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

RE: Book Review: J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Sketchbook
I'm a fan of the way he draws his women. It's almost the perfect comic book style. I've been curious about this book so thanks for the review.

RE: Book Review: J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Sketchbook
I got this book a long time ago and it's one of my most favourite art book. It's not very big - about the size of a comic book but the art inside is well worth it.
I agree with Youal, highly recommended if you can find it. |
