Book Review: The Art Of Tim Burton
This book is just cram packed with stuff. It's 430 pages of gorgeous drawings, doodles and paintings. There are quite a few fold outs sprinkled throughout. The book starts out by giving the history of Burton and how he got interested in art as a child, even including some of his highschool art. From there it explores every aspect of his creative life from his many movies to personal works. The added notes from friends and colleagues really help give the reader a sense of the sort of creative madman Tim Burton is and is well respected for being.

The thing that I love most about this collection of art is how varied it all is. There are lots of things in the deceptively simple "Burton" style he's well known for but there are also quite a few drawings that show off his classical animation training. Some of his ink caricatures even have a Ronald Searle quality to them at times.

Some info about Tim Burton taken from Wikipedia:
Tim Burton is an Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated American film director, film producer, writer and artist. He is famous for his dark, quirky-themed movies such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and for blockbusters such as Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Batman, Batman Returns, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland, his most recent film.

Two more photos I couldn't fit into this post: Photo# 11 Photo #12

I've also taken a video of a flip through of the book which can be seen here. None of the foldouts were unfolded for the video.

The book can be purchased here but it is temporarily sold out for now.
