Book review: Wolf's Rain Seeking Rakuen
Wolf's Rain is definitely a departure from the skippy-happy, bubbly-faced characters of mainstream anime. The story is a morose one where a pack of wolves, able to disguise themselves as humans, make their way to the land of Paradise, or "rakuen" as known in Japanese. Sacrifices and hardship are part of their journey.
A wicked set of art is also part of this series' journey. The book has promo art included in DVD box art and ads. Most of the art is concept character art. The human guises of the wolves went through a bunch of changes before the final versions were set. The wolf designs also take up some pages as each wolf in the show has a certain look to them to distinguish them from one another. Without those subtleties they'd just be Wolf #1, Wolf #2, etc. to us. This book is out of print and your best is to look on eBay. Availability: Amazon JP A4 size, 111 pages ISBN: 9784861270611 |
