Any bag recommendation for carrying sketch items? - parka - 31-03-2011 02:34 PM
I'm looking around for a bag to carry my pens, markers and A5 sketchbook - basically my kit for drawing on the train while traveling to work.
Something that looks like this would be nice:
But it seems too small to fit a A5 sketchbook.
Any ideas welcomed.
My current bag is too huge and can probably squeeze in 4 laptops.

I generally like using messenger bags made either of canvas, leather or a thick and durable nylon for carrying around my sketchbooks. Laptop messenger bags are good for this too. Laurex, Targus and Golla are some pretty good brands that I can think of, or try any bag/luggage store and they normally have good finds.
Seems like most laptop messengers are made for 17" laptops now but I prefer using 15" for carrying around A4 sketchbooks. They usually have seperate pocket compartments under the flap good for storing pencils, pens and the like. If you plan to carry markers and brushes around, you'll probably not want a laptop bag though since they tend to be padded rather thickly(unless said padding is removeable). I found that it just made it too heavy and bulky, but if you can take it out you should be able to fit a 24pc or 36pc Copic wallet in there too.

Managed to find one from Amazon, and it ships direct from them.
The Manhattan Portage Urban Bag. It can hold a A5 sketchbook and lots of pens. Great!
