Deluxe editions. - fleggett - 27-02-2011 10:44 AM This is (mainly) directed at Parka, but I welcome input from others. I've only recently discovered this blog/review site (as my "Newbie" status indicates). To me, it's crack cocaine mixed with a little ecstasy. I'm a real sucker for art books and frequently pay obscene prices for deluxe, signed editions. Which leads to the point of this post. Would it be a total PITA to document the existence of a deluxe edition (when extant) when compiling a review? I'm not talking about examining deluxe editions themselves, just documenting whether or not they've been published. For example, Titan Publishing Group released a deluxe, signed, boxed edition of Sucker Punch: The Art of the Film for $75. Titan also released a deluxe edition of Icons: The DC and Wildstorm Art of Jim Lee for $100. All of Desperado/IDW "Art Of" books have also enjoyed signed & numbered editions. I ask because I try to seek out these editions, but some publishers, for whatever reason, make it very hard to uncover their existence. For instance, I would never have known there was a deluxe edition of Sucker Punch if it wasn't for an article on AICN which linked to the Amazon solicitation page. Anyway, if it's possible to include this information in future reviews, I'd be delighted. Thanks a bunch! RE: Deluxe editions. - parka - 27-02-2011 11:13 AM Sure. I'll try to include the deluxe editions if I come across them. RE: Deluxe editions. - fleggett - 27-02-2011 11:22 AM Thanks a bunch, parka. You can't imagine how useful this will be for people like myself. Would you like me to cite what I know here? I tend to be pretty fastidious about these things and am in the process of reorganizing/re-documenting my entire collection. I like to compile information like price, limitation, and ISBN (when assigned). Given the nature of these editions, availability is always hit-or-miss, so there's little I can do on that front. Keep up the fantastic work on this site! I can't believe it took me this long to check it out (I came here from Amazon). I think the seller may be auctioning them off at the original MSRPs. I may have to splurge for one just to see what they're like (probably Tarzan, as it's my favorite "modern" Disney animated film). I only wish the seller had posted more pics. |
