The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox by Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson will be directing Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox in stop animation.

This is coming out on 3 Nov 2009.

Product description:

Originally published in 1970, Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox tells the story of the Fox Family. After twelve years, the Fox Family’s quiet home life proves too much for Mr. Fox’s natural animal instincts. When his young nephew arrives, Mr. Fox slips back into his old ways as a smart bird thief and, in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community as well. In Fall 2009, audiences will cheer as award-winning director Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited) brings us his take on the tale: a blockbuster stop-motion animation film shot entirely in high definition. Starring the voice talents of George Clooney (Michael Clayton), Meryl Streep (Doubt), Bill Murray (Lost in Translation), and Jason Schwartzman (Marie Antoinette), the movie is sure to please fans of the original story as well as enchant new generations. Fantastic Mr. Fox: The Making of the Motion Picture is a family-friendly behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the film. Filled with photos, script pages, storyboards, and interviews with cast and crew, this book is a delightful and intriguing peek at the magic that happens as the filmmakers bring to life one of children’s literature’s most beloved characters: the outrageous, audacious, Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The Pixar Treasures
The Pixar Treasures by Tim Hauser
I'm actually quite skeptical about this book. For 64 pages, it's relatively pricey at $37.80 (after discount). The product description below offers essentially nothing new if you have read To Infinity and Beyond!: The Story of Pixar Animation Studios.

This book is coming out on 10 Nov 2009.

Product description:

The Pixar Treasures is a scrapbook of instinct and inspiration, experiences readers can touch, and visions that exist only in the imagination. It begins with a group of animators who were inspired by Walt Disney films. In the late 1970s and early '80s, John Lasseter, Brad Bird, and Joe Ranft were hired into an apprenticeship program at Walt Disney Productions. The last of Disney's golden age artists, including animators Eric Larson, Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, and Ollie Johnston mentored the young dreamers, and as Pixar later developed, their work would draw heavily from this direct connection with Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men." The tale continues with Pixar's foray into computer animation, and the resulting success of Toy Story. With chapters on A Bug's Life; Monsters, Inc.; Finding Nemo; The Incredibles; Cars; Ratatouille; and WALL*E, Hauser's narrative covers the struggles, growth, and successes of an incredible animation studio. And it gives readers a sneak peak at the newest Disney*Pixar film, Up. Filled with unique removable keepsakes, The Pixar Treasures is an essential collector's item for every Pixar fan.

Put It Away: 48 More Nudes
Put It Away: 48 More Nudes by Ashley Wood
I wonder how many books does he publish in a year.

This one's coming out on 29 Nov 2009.

Product description:

After two previous 48 Nudes collections and the 96 Nudes hardcover, you might think renowned artist/illustrator Ashley Wood has had enough of capturing the female form within the two-dimensional plane. 'Tis not the case, as Wood proves with this latest look at, well, nudes. After examining the work featured in this book, you won't want to Put It Away either.

Hellboy's got it right! Oban

Hellboy's got it right! Oban is fantastic and I'm saying that from the West coast. It's definately a beautiful blend of French and Japanese art, storytelling, and animation. Check it out first chance you get!

I've also gotta comment about

I've also gotta comment about Oban! It's a great series and I'm really looking forward to the art book.
I also wanted to share this link about the Pixar Treasures book, which looks great just because of all the pullouts: http://www.pixartalk.com/tag/the-pixar-treasures/

I hope the movie Planet 51 is good. The trailer looked really nice, so hopefully the art book will be cool too.

Looking forward to your reviews!

Spectrum 16 is already out at

Spectrum 16 is already out at Kinokuniya this week.

btw, do you know if Ashley Wood's Fanta and Tarino series are just updates or different books each ? I bought the first Fanta and later he pushed Dos, Tres, Finale, etc. Did not want to buy extras and just getting only additional pages while the majority are the same material.

Agree with all the above

Agree with all the above comments, Oban star racers is a great series. I received the book from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and has some great illustrations and CGI models. I don't think you will be disapointed with this book, especially as its a bit of a bargain on Amazon in the UK right now.
