Book Review: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: The Visual Guide

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: The Visual Guide

This book looks light, is light and provides for a light read.

It covers the characters, background of the empire, locations, and key events from the movie. Every subject it covers is a bit short, 2 pages each - the book has only 72 pages.

The content is presented in a style typical of DK Books, with snippets of information everywhere. Much of the text is on repeating the plot of the movie. There aren't a lot covered for the props, which are mostly briefly mentioned with a few labels. Several things that could be explored further aren't, like locations, cultural styling, costumes.

On the plus side, the images in the book are really good. The photos are beautiful, huge and shows a lot of details. The beautiful concept art, as few as there are, makes me wish for a dedicated art book.

This book really feels like much more could be added. Things that you can find this book, you probably already know or can guess by watching the movie.

It's worth a brief read but might not be enough for a buy, certainly not a book that's going to be constantly referred to, at least not for me. Children might enjoy this book more since it's quite simple to read.

Childish book for sure. I

Childish book for sure.

I have a suggestion for a review that you might want to do in the near future.
It's a quite extraordinary Documentary Movie about the swiss surealist HR Giger.
I'm not sure that his art is of your taste, so sorry if it's not.
The DVD should be soon released in amazon, at this time it's available only trough paypal.
Here is a link of the site: https://giger-dvd.com/en/
By now it's not very popular, maybe because it's a indipendent Czech Production and it needs more advertisement, but I allready have a copy (actualy two) and got to say that it's amazing work really.
I have allready made a review, but it's in Bulgarian, so i don't think that it will be any good to you.

Keep the good work Parka.
Best regards.
